Terms of Service
The terms that apply when you use Dinkum Invoice
Last updated 24 August 2026.
1. Agreement
These terms apply whenever you use Dinkum Invoice — the free invoice generator, the free templates, account signup, or the paid subscription. By using any of these, you agree to them. If you don’t agree, don’t use the service.
Dinkum Invoice is currently in beta. Some of what’s described below (accounts, paid subscriptions) is being built; these terms are written to cover both what exists today and what launches during the beta.
2. What Dinkum Invoice is
Dinkum Invoice helps Australian sole traders and small trade businesses generate ATO-correct tax invoices and, on the paid tier, BAS-ready GST summaries. Unlimited invoice and quote generation is free forever — no caps, no trial period. The paid tier adds GST/BAS reporting and other features described on the site at the time you subscribe.
It is not tax, legal, accounting or financial advice. It helps you produce correctly formatted documents based on the information you enter; you’re responsible for that information being accurate and for meeting your own obligations to the ATO, including keeping records for the period the law requires (currently five years).
3. The price-lock promise
If you join as a founding member during the beta, the subscription price you joined at is locked for as long as you keep an active subscription without a gap — we will not raise it on you, even if the price for new members changes later. This is a genuine contractual commitment, not just marketing: nothing elsewhere in these terms overrides it. If you cancel and resubscribe later, you rejoin at whatever the then-current price is.
The free plan stays free, with no invoice caps, for as long as we operate it. Your invoices and data are exportable at any time; if you leave, your archive stays readable.
4. Your responsibilities
- The ABN, GST, and invoice details you enter are accurate and belong to your own business.
- You’re responsible for checking the figures Dinkum Invoice produces before you send or rely on them, and for your own compliance with ATO requirements.
- You won’t use the service for anything unlawful, to generate documents on behalf of a business that isn’t yours without authorisation, or to interfere with the service or other users.
- If you have a paid subscription, you’re responsible for keeping your payment details current; a failed payment may pause access to paid features until it’s resolved.
5. Availability
We aim to keep Dinkum Invoice available and working properly, but we don’t promise uninterrupted or error-free service, particularly during the beta. We’ll try to give notice of planned downtime or major changes where practical.
6. Your data and privacy
How we collect, use, and store information is described in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms. The invoice generator builds your PDF in your browser and doesn’t send your invoice data to our servers. Signup and account data is handled as described there.
7. Disclaimers and liability
Dinkum Invoice helps you generate ATO-correct invoices and GST summaries based on the information you provide. It isn’t tax, legal, accounting or financial advice, and you’re responsible for checking your figures and your own obligations to the ATO.
To the maximum extent the law allows, and subject to any consumer guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law that can’t be excluded, our total liability to you for any claim relating to the service is limited, at our choice, to (a) resupplying the service, or (b) refunding the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. This applies because you’re using Dinkum Invoice for your business, not for personal, domestic or household use. We’re not liable for indirect or consequential losses — lost profits, lost data beyond what we can reasonably restore, business interruption — to the extent the law lets us exclude that.
Nothing here limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law says can’t be limited — including our obligations under the Australian Consumer Law and its rules on misleading or deceptive conduct.
8. Ending your use
You can stop using Dinkum Invoice, or cancel a paid subscription, at any time. Export your data first if you want a copy — see section 3. We may suspend or end access to the service for a breach of these terms, or wind down the service entirely with reasonable notice, in which case you’ll get the chance to export your data beforehand.
9. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the product changes. Section 3’s price-lock promise to existing founding members is not something we’ll change to your detriment. For other changes, we’ll give notice before they take effect; continuing to use the service after that means you accept the update.
Mobile subscriptions
Mobile features are those described in the app and its store listing; website features may differ. Optional Dinkum Pro subscriptions save business details, customers and services. The store displays the applicable local price and billing period before purchase. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled in your Apple or Google account settings. For Apple subscriptions, cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Deleting the app or Dinkum account does not cancel a store subscription. Existing founding-member commitments in these terms continue to apply.
For iOS, Apple’s standard end user licence agreement also applies.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of Victoria, Australia, and you submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of its courts.
