Free plasterer invoice template (Australia)
A plasterer's invoice is mostly square metres and lineal metres: board hung, joints set, cornice run. The template below has a line for each stage, because builders pay plasterers in stages and homeowners want to see what "set and sanded" actually cost.
It is ATO-correct ("Tax Invoice", ABN, GST per line) and suits both a builder's subcontract (with progress claims) and a one-off repair for a homeowner. Download the PDF or let the free invoice generator fill it in.

Trade-specific rules
GST notes for plasterers
Plastering and ceiling services: plasterboard hung and set per m², cornice per lineal metre, patch repairs by the job, often subcontracted to a builder.
- Plasterboard, compound, cornice and screws you supply carry GST at your charged price. If the builder supplies the board, invoice labour only and say so in the description.
- Builder subcontracts usually pay by stage (hang, then set, then final). Each progress claim is its own tax invoice with every required element.
- Labour-only subbies invoicing a builder over $1,000 must show the builder's name or ABN on the tax invoice.

Using this plasterer invoice template in other formats
Microsoft Word
Recreate the PDF’s structure with a 5-column table (description, qty, unit price, GST, amount). Keep the words “Tax Invoice” as the document title, your ABN under your business name, and add a totals block of subtotal / GST / total. Word’s tables won’t calculate GST for you, so double-check every amount: a wrong GST figure is the most common Word-template mistake we saw in real plasterer invoices.
Excel / spreadsheets
Excel handles the maths: set GST per line to =ROUND(qty*unit*0.1, 2) for GST-inclusive work, and total to subtotal + GST. The trap is what Excel doesn’t do: it won’t stop you issuing two invoices with the same number, and PDFs exported from spreadsheets often crop columns, so always check the print preview before sending.
Google Docs
Same structure as Word. One advantage: a single master doc you copy per invoice keeps your numbering sequential. One warning: sharing the live doc link instead of a PDF lets the amounts change after sending, so always download as PDF before it goes to the customer.
Honestly? Every format above still means retyping your details each time. The free invoice generator fills the same ATO-correct layout in your browser and downloads the PDF, no signup required.

FAQ
Do plasterers charge per m² or per sheet?
Per m² is the common way to invoice hanging and setting, because it matches the plans. Some plasterers quote per sheet for small jobs. Whichever unit you quoted, keep it on the invoice.
How do I invoice hang and set separately?
Two lines, or two progress claims if the builder pays by stage. "Hang" then "set, sand and finish" with the same m² on each, so the builder can tick off each stage.
How do I price a small patch repair?
As a fixed price per patch or a minimum charge plus hourly. Patch work takes return visits for drying between coats, so a per-m² rate rarely covers it.
