Landscaper invoice example: what a correct one looks like
The filled-in example below is a backyard turf renovation: remove the old lawn, cart it away, prep the base, lay new Sir Walter. Four honest lines that show unit rates: the format that gets progress-payment approval from a customer in one text message.
Green-waste disposal is charged as its own line. Tip fees are real money; hiding them in your labour rate just makes your rate look worse.

Trade-specific rules
GST notes for landscapers
Landscaping Services: supply-heavy work where materials (turf, soil, plants, sleepers) often outweigh labour on the invoice, and green-waste disposal is its own real cost.
- Materials you supply (turf, soil, plants) carry GST at your charged price. Keep nursery and landscape-yard receipts for your own BAS credits.
- Tip and green-waste fees you pay are costs; what you charge the customer for disposal is a taxable line like any other.
- Measured quantities beat lump sums: 'per m² × actual area' on the invoice matches the quote structure and kills the 'but you quoted less' conversation.

Fair questions
FAQ
Per m² or lump sum?
Per m² with the measured area, almost always. It's transparent, matches how you quoted, and makes variations trivial. Lump sums are for tiny jobs.
Can I charge for quoting?
Site visits and quotes are free by convention, but design work isn't. If you're drawing plans, charge for them as a line and credit it back if the job proceeds. Say so on the invoice.
What about maintenance contracts?
Recurring monthly amounts invoice beautifully: one line, 'Garden maintenance, August, as per agreement'. Same ATO elements every month; only the date changes.
