Free tiler invoice template (Australia)
A tiler's invoice lives or dies on square metres. Floor and wall areas laid at a per-m² rate, waterproofing as its own line, and a clear note on who supplied the tiles. That last one matters: when the client buys the tiles, your invoice is labour and consumables only, and saying so up front stops the "why is it so dear" call.
This free template is ATO-correct ("Tax Invoice", ABN, GST per line) and has the lines tilers actually use: demolition and removal, screed or levelling, waterproofing, floor and wall tiling per m², trims and silicone. Download the PDF or fill one in with the free invoice generator.

Trade-specific rules
GST notes for tilers
Tiling Services: priced per square metre laid, with waterproofing, screeding, and who supplied the tiles making the biggest difference to the invoice.
- When the client supplies the tiles, your invoice is labour and consumables only. Say "client supplied" in the line description so nobody thinks the tiles are included.
- Adhesive, grout, membrane and trims you supply carry GST at your charged price. Keep the trade store receipts for your own GST credits.
- Subcontracting to a builder? Your invoice still needs every tax invoice element, plus the builder's name or ABN once the total passes $1,000.
Word, Excel or Google Docs
Using this tiler invoice template in other formats
Microsoft Word
Recreate the PDF’s structure with a 5-column table (description, qty, unit price, GST, amount). Keep the words “Tax Invoice” as the document title, your ABN under your business name, and add a totals block of subtotal / GST / total. Word’s tables won’t calculate GST for you, so double-check every amount: a wrong GST figure is the most common Word-template mistake we saw in real tiler invoices.
Excel / spreadsheets
Excel handles the maths: set GST per line to =ROUND(qty*unit*0.1, 2) for GST-inclusive work, and total to subtotal + GST. The trap is what Excel doesn’t do: it won’t stop you issuing two invoices with the same number, and PDFs exported from spreadsheets often crop columns, so always check the print preview before sending.
Google Docs
Same structure as Word. One advantage: a single master doc you copy per invoice keeps your numbering sequential. One warning: sharing the live doc link instead of a PDF lets the amounts change after sending, so always download as PDF before it goes to the customer.
Honestly? Every format above still means retyping your details each time. The free invoice generator fills the same ATO-correct layout in your browser and downloads the PDF, no signup required.

Fair questions
FAQ
Do tilers charge per m² or per hour?
Per m² for most floor and wall work, with an hourly or fixed rate for fiddly extras like niches, mitred corners or small patch repairs. Use whatever unit you quoted and keep it the same on the invoice.
Should waterproofing be a separate line?
Yes. It is a different job with different liability, and builders, certifiers and insurers may ask who did it. A separate line with the area and the membrane used is the easiest record you will ever keep.
Who supplied the tiles: does it change the GST?
If you supply and charge for tiles, GST applies to your charged price. If the client supplied them, there is nothing to charge GST on for the tiles themselves; only your labour and the materials you did supply.
